Another Hurricane

This just in…A Category 4 Hurricane is on track for the southeast coast of the United States and scheduled to make landfall in just 3 days’ time. Hurricane Florence is a product of the Atlantic Ocean’s brute forces coinciding perfectly to create a most powerful and likely devastating storm. Our very own s/v Bosco lies in the wake of Florence’s path.

Thankfully, Jake and I are still traveling land-wards thousands of miles from Bosco at the moment. We are anxious and nervous about her well-being and since we can’t be there, it makes it even worse.

This isn’t our first rodeo with hurricane’s, remember Joaquin and Matthew both came very near to impact. However Florence looks far more imminent and a much stronger storm than the other two, we are hoping for the best and that Bosco can fare the storm.

We’ve learned that there is already mandatory evacuation orders set along much of South Carolina’s coast and spreading up into coastal North Carolina. Flooding is likely imminent, but this isn’t as big a problem as we’re talking about a boat. All the sails and canvas are being pulled (by the dock master’s at the marina), but the solar and wind panels will remain, hopefully fully functional and not damaged, at the end of the storm. For now, all we can do is wait and hope that Florence isn’t as bad as they say, and that Bosco can hold tough through the battle.

As for everyone else along the east coast, we are saying prayers that Florence does as little damage as possible, ideally none at all, and that everyone has a safe, sturdy place to weather this storm.
